I’ve always done things a little differently. When I was 3, I would not leave the house unless my mother fixed my hair exactly like Princess Leia’s in Star Wars. (In case you were wondering, the correct terminology for the legendary coif is “Star Puffs”.) A few years later, I would recreate the action-packed climax in E.T. with Ziploc bags, creating plastic “tubing” extending from the front door of my little Fisher-Price house.
While I’m sure Hollywood mourns each time the red carpet is rolled out, I ended up becoming a writer. Not a screenwriter. Nor did I become a wordsmith of comic books or political allegory packaged as science fiction. Just a regular old copywriter–slash–freelance journalist. But as far as regular old copywriters go, I would definitely want the woman, who, as a child, thought it would be a good idea to attempt to ride the donkey in a church manger scene.
I just held onto the ears and tried rocking back and forth.
And always looked at the world just a little bit differently.
If you want a writer who truly enjoys a challenge, someone who thrives on working with an entire creative alliance to defeat the evil empire of stale & stagnant ideas — or just someone willing to take the plastic, life-size donkey by the ears, Melinda Green is definitely the go-to gal.
In addition to being a killer copywriter with a “quasi-design” background, I also contribute regular pieces — on many subjects — to BostonNow and other publications. These include everything from straight reporting to travel writing.
I have several hobbies and interests outside of work, a caustic wit, and more than anything, I loathe the smell of mildew.
